clear nails

Are a base and top coat really necessary?

Maybe you use a base coat but skip the top coat. Or perhaps you use your top coat as a clear nail polish? Did you know it lasts longer when you also use a base coat? But what exactly is the difference between these two products?

The base coat acts as a primer for your nails. It protects your nail plate from discoloration caused by nail polish. If you wear nail polish continuously, yellow or white spots can appear on your nails. The base coat helps keep your nails protected. Additionally, it adheres to your nail polish, making it last longer and stay in place better.

The top coat is the finishing touch to your nail polish. It adds an extra protective layer over your color, making it last longer, look less dull, and be more resistant to chipping. Your nail polish will be less likely to peel off.

Should you use a top coat and base coat from the same brand?
Absolutely! The ideal products for painting your nails are three items from the same brand: one layer of base coat, two thin layers of your favorite color, and one layer of top coat. Since they share the same formulation, they adhere better to each other compared to products from different brands.

One last tip:
Give your nails a break from nail polish now and then, and nourish them with the ProNails serum.
