Tips and tricks for finding the ideal nail polish color

Nude and natural nails are hip and trendy, both in cosmetics and in the world of fashion. That is why ProNails also offers beautiful nude shades that provide perfect coverage. But not every nail polish color is suitable for every skin. How do you determine your desired color?

Ask yourself the following questions :

  1. What result do you want? Do you want the color of the nail polish to blend nicely with yours or do you want a color that pops out a bit?
  2. Do you want an opaque or transparent polish? The nude nail polishes are semi-transparent. If you want a transparent look, one layer is enough, your nail will still be visible. If you want a more opaque nail polish, apply two layers.
  3. What is your skin tone and undertone? And here begins the difficult but also very interesting part. Bear with me!

Colored and white people vary in color within their own color type. In addition, your skin color can also vary; tanned in the summer, pale in the winter. You probably already do it; you avoid certain colors in the winter while they look good on you in the summer.

Black nail polish looks stylish on brown people and can look gothic on pale people. It accentuates the paleness, the whiteness of the skin on white people.

How come?

The undertone of your skin is very important. This is the 'warmth ' of your skin.

Cool undertone: pink, blue or gray color

Warm undertone: yellow, brown, ochre, mustard

  • You probably already know which colors suit you. For example, which color do you choose if you have to choose a bright nail polish: bright pink/red or light pink/coral? You may have noticed that bright red suits you better (cold tone) than coral (warm tone).

  • For cool skin tones, silver jewelry is often more flattering than gold jewelry, which suits warm skin tones better.

  • To find out what your undertone is, hold a piece of white paper next to your face/hands, what shade does your skin remind you of? More pink: cool. More yellow: warm.

Does this mean that you can no longer wear certain colours? Of course not. As long as there is no colour police, you wear the colours you want. And maybe there are times in which you do get 'VAVAVOOM' reactions with a certain colour, e.g. because of a tanned skin, because of being in love, your clothing style, which other colours your outfit contains, how you feel; All these things together determine your appearance, your nail polish only completes the picture!

Nude colors are harder to choose. They either flatter the color of your hands/feet or not.

Some examples to inspire you to choose a nude color:

  • Cool undertone/pale the skin is pinkish or bluish (purple/blue veins), you look good in black and white clothes and wear silver jewelry:

Pink and white nude shades are suitable for you e.g. Opening dance , Holding hands , Sweet gesture .

  • Cold undertone/olive/grey/dull combination of warm and cold undertone with grey/green sheen. Not too pink and not too yellow nude shades, rather golden nude shades e.g. Bare necessity .

  • Warm undertone Amber color, yellowish undertone or green veins, often freckles, beautiful with off-white and brown colors, yellow gold jewelry: Brown and beige nude tones e.g. ProNails offers these colours: Bare necessity , Close contact , Subtle move

Buying nail polish online is not easy. In the store you can hold the bottle against your hand to decide if the color suits you, keep in mind that artificial light lights up your skin differently than daylight.
